On July 16 at Pyramid Hill, the Hamilton-Fairfield Symphony Orchestra and the Cincinnati Opera will perform a selection of pieces in honor of the 20th Anniversary of Pyramid Hill. The highlight of the concert will be the premier of an original work, “Vision on a Hill,” by Paul Stanbery, Music Director, composed in honor of Harry Wilks, founder of the park.
Paul describes the work “Vision on a Hill” as “about 6 minutes long, beginning with Harry (played by a solo French Horn) standing atop his barren acreage which will eventually become Pyramid Hill. Then, one by one, ideas begin to emerge, as if new sculptures are appearing. It is very festive by the end, and features nature and bird calls along the way. In this way my hope is to honor both Harry himself, as well as the “vision” to which he gave his life so endlessly and generously.” This composition is being generously donated to the community by Paul, in support of the park.
In addition, following the concert, there will be a gala picnic. This picnic is a fundraiser and 25% of the food cost is being generously underwritten by the caterer.
